Adam Rudolph

In February 2025, Copenhagen Jazz Orchestra embarks on a groundbreaking collaboration with the visionary American composer, percussionist, and conductor Adam Rudolph. Known for his innovative approach to rhythm and global musical traditions, Rudolph has spent decades shaping a unique language of orchestral improvisation, seamlessly blending jazz with influences from Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

For this special project, Copenhagen Jazz Orchestra and Adam Rudolph will explore organic improvisation within a large ensemble setting, using his acclaimed Go: Organic Orchestra concept. This approach invites the musicians to engage in spontaneous composition, guided by conduction techniques, hand signals, and visual cues, creating a dynamic and evolving soundscape in real time.

The performance will feature new works by Rudolph, crafted specifically for this collaboration, alongside compositions tailored to highlight the ensemble’s versatility and collective energy. Polyrhythms, deep grooves, and free-flowing melodies will merge into an immersive experience where structure and spontaneity coexist, breaking conventional boundaries between composed and improvised music.

Through layered percussion textures, hypnotic melodies, and intricate harmonic movements, this concert promises an unpredictable and deeply engaging journey—a sonic expedition into the heart of rhythmic exploration.

Join us for an evening where jazz meets global rhythm traditions, and where Copenhagen Jazz Orchestra steps into uncharted musical territory with one of the most forward-thinking composers of our time.
